About Ann

Picture
Welcome to THE ART OF ANN website. Thank you for taking the time to browse
through this small selection of some of Ann Odaisky's paintings.

Ann was an extremely prolific artist. Her paintings are enjoyed by and in possession of her 4 children,7 grandchildren as well as many friends and various members of the public. It is an ongoing project to properly archive the magnitude of  Ann's works. The images you see here are a presentation of less than 10% of her entire works and mainly from only one of her daughter's collection.Simply a great beginning!

Ann loved life and loved to paint.  She painted simply for the enjoyment it brought to her life. Ann's joy of life is evident in her art. Her inspiration came from the simplest of starts, often a photo of a special place she had visited, whether it be the woods on a snowy day or flower gardens. She saw the world through the eyes of an artist and saw beauty everywhere.

Her medium was not limited to only watercolor, acrylic, or oil on canvas. She would paint on whatever caught her fancy or anything her family requested. She painted on fabric-tshirts,dresses,aprons,hats serviettes and bags. She painted on metal - watering cans, plant pots  and even on stones. Every card she gave each family member was a hand painted original, leaving her family with a huge legacy of her love, in painted form.

As a young girl, Ann enjoyed sketching and painting, but with limited supplies. A paint set was a treasured wedding gift from her new husband Nick, was soon tucked away as she was busy raising 4 children. As her time allowed, later in life, Ann returned to paint more and more.It was often at the encouragement of her family as we would request various things, beginning in the 1970's. The 1990's were a very prolific time as she would find inspiration everywhere and apply her paint to everything and anything.  Whereas, Ann had a couple of art shows and sold her art through a number of outlets, she prefferred to stay out of the spotlight and paint for her own enjoyment and family. Our requests kept her busy. Her children and grandchildren have more paintings than wall space!

This showing, THE CELEBRATION OF ANN, gave us an opportunity to share, celebrate and appreciate her talent. THE ART OF
ANN  is a continued tribute to her.
